These birdbaths are sand cast, created in the dirt, underground. The top and bottom are two separate pieces, but are created to fit snugly together. If you live in a cold-weather climate, moisture could get into the cracks of the top and break pieces off when it freezes. To ensure this doesn’t happen, please remove the top and place in a dry area during winter or when there’s no longer a chance of frost.
These are not painted, they’re acid-stained, so the color will never fade. If you do notice some fading after awhile, the birdbath may need another coat of concrete sealer, which is available at most hardware stores.
